This happened yesterday in Milwaukee County:
http://fox6now.com/2015/03/20/semi-suffers-damage-after-hitting-railroad-bridge-on-swan-boulevard-in-wauwatosa/
The yellow sign (that you can't read) on the bridge says 12'. There are signs about 1/4 mile before the bridge that say 12' and 'LOW CLEARANCE'.
Driver can't read. Stuck under overpass. Swift!

He might have made it if he had been in the right lane instead of the middle of the road.

There's a poster in the break room where I'm currently temping. One side shows a screen shot of Google Maps with a truck 1/2 submerged in a lake in the background and the other shows a pic of a person looking at a Rand McNally. The caption says, "Accepted forms of GPS."

NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Zooming in on Google maps sure helps a lot more than I would imagine driving blind. Anytime I see railroad tracks into an area, I check them out too, there are so many areas with low trestles that it is better to be safe than sorry.
