I'm gonna agree here. This could have been any driver for any company. Just because you work for someone doesn't dictate how you are as a driver.

You bet...as matter of fact. Some Co's have a reputation for hiring the biggest fools.

I lived in Fitzgerald for years and that's where my Father was born. Fitzgerald has suffered economic decline in recent years and looks like a mini Detroit Downtown.

ok, so i guess he was looking straight ahead at the bus in front of him and just plowed into it.

It's hard to say, but from the video, it doesn't appear to be an area with blind hills or turns. And there is no mention of fog or smoke or rain or snow, so perhaps driver-inattention blame makes at least a little sense in that scenario.

Texting, or reading a map, or picking up a burrito he dropped, or driving while fatigued .... does it make any difference? It's all inattentive driving no matter how you look at it.

42 kids on the bus when it was struck, plus one kid came close to getting killed (according to the news report). This one is gonna hurt JB Hunt pretty badly, especially after the WalMart case in Jersey. I can just hear the lawyers salivating......

No, in relative terms, this is not going to hurt JB Hunt any more then you having to pay a $50 speeding ticket. Could have been much worse. The only thing that would amplify the problem is if the driver was in HOS violation at the time or recently, or was driving a truck where defects affecting braking were noted in the pre-trip.

Sad to say, but these same or very similar events happen several times each year across the nation with relatively few consequences. It's not like this was a premeditated action of the driver, or JB Hunt management told the driver to hit the bus.
