You live in CA. Pot is legal there!
All they care about is the enviroment.
I bet you the wineries pay all the taxation/permits ahead of time. There are many ways to squeeze Arnold S. Taxpayer. Bring a load out east.
When I started checking on the states, each one had different rules. There were states that made the breweries pay special permits, other states put the permits on the transportation companies and some states don't fool with it. They're happy you bring it.
Some sates like VA has laws for Joe Consumer. You have to have a special permit to carry over two cases of beer in your trunk. You even need a permit if you move into the state and bring your liquor collection in the moving truck.

Never needed a permit for any of it though.

Y'all can have all that crap!Boardhauler and FriedTater Thank this. -
Ive done plenty of beer loads. Like Sazook said, the NJ permit is a permit per load basis...
The permit is always waiting for me at the gaurd shack, having been faxed there by our company, when I get to the brewry in Newark.
About 2 months ago I had a load out of Bud in Columbus. The distributorship in Maryland I delivered at acutally asked for my Maryland alcohol permit so they could make a copy of it. Thats was a first. -

Along with being a driver, I'm a certified instructor in beverage server training. I teach bartenders and waitresses etc, how to keep from over serving and selling to minors. In almost every class, someone argues that "the laws aren't fair". My response is "it doesn't matter, it's still the law. We're not here to argue fairness, we're here to teach compliance." Bottom line, you may make the choice to break the law, and carry alcohol in your truck or trailer. But if you get busted, be prepared to pay the consequences. The law is clear. "That's not fair" ain't gonna cut it with a judge.
