There is a no doubt the FMSCA / DOT have got your number. Your DOT Number. This is the place to look up your company SMS scores recarding BASIC and CSA Violations
http://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/query.asp
This is the first page where you enter the company US DOT Number.
for example Prime, Inc. Dot Number is 3706.
Enter the Number into the blank field and the Web Search gives you the Company's Info/
Then Look to the right hand side of the web page and find the Blue Box and right click on "SMS Results"
Select the SMS button and it will link you to:
FMCSA A&I Online Safety Management System Web Portal
The SMS provides an assessment of a motor carrier's on-road performance and investigation results within the Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories (BASICs). Assessments cover 24 months of activity and results are updated monthly.
Reports of actual Violations with Dates and Place (State)
It also reports the Trucks and Trailers ID and Plates.
This Report is reliable and current Information is used by DOT on Carriers and Drivers.
this is why the Safety Departments are Bugging Drivers to get there Pre-Trip Inspections and Logs current before driving.
Most of the Violations are from Driver neglegence or Company who force drivers to operate over the 11/14 hour rules to deliver loads on time. Accidents, Fatique, Lights,Logs Violations data is colected and documented from Road Side inspections at Scales by Uniformed DOT Officers as well as Internal On-Site Inspections at the Carriers Home Terminal/Corporate Headquarters.
It would be doing a everyone a big favor if you would Post the Carrier's DOT NUMBER on the Bad Trucking Company Threads (and Good Trucking Company Threads) so WE can see actual DOT Inspections and Violations.

My company has a very good rating in all fields. So I am not all that worried about it.
I finally broke down and got a copy of my psp yesterday.
Had exactly what I though it would on it. 4 inspections in the past 3 years. No violations at all, passed every one. And no accidents.
So in a way it was a waste of the 10 bucks. But I have heard of people having incorrect info, so I wanted to check.
Also remember. Drivers do not have a score. The company's and some 3rd party vendors are making up scores for the company's. Based on any violations or warnings that the driver has received. No points are shown on the psp and no rating.
It is just information. The company's have decided how they wish to use that info. -
I would not say that was a waste. At least you have confirmation and an offical copy.

Having consistent log not current, fitness, and or faulty equipment can weed out those to lazy to do their job in our eyes.
