I think what is needed is a third headlight system, much like the third brake light on cars. After all look at how many cars you see every day with one or two brake lights out but that third brake light never seems to quit.:biggrin_2556:

    OR

maybe a headlight system like this is needed...[IMG]

Just more headlights to be at risk for not working.

The biggest pain is that comment "General Form and Manner" seems to be used alot on inspections anymore.

That car is the wet dream of all the super truckers with their out of focus "driving lights".

On a side note, who ever thought stick on wood looked awesome on a car?

Yes that totally takes common sense out of the equation.

Lot of information in 395.8 that covers "general form and manner"

Almost got a warning once for not signing a log page at the start of the day.
I always sign it last thing at end of day.
Years ago I got away with argueing that the "mistake" on it was not certified it with a signature yet so it was not falsified, merely a mistake awaiting correction.
I got points for originality and told to hit the road.
This was a LONG time ago, when DOT guys still had a sense of Humor, I wouldn't try that excuse again in Todays world.
I do however still not sign the page till days end.

Couple weeks ago i was on the shoulder with a coolant level sensor falsely shutting truck down, trooper pulled up and decided after calling a tow truck it would be a good time to inspect me. He let me slide with no fine on a couple tires I was about to replace, and some general manner on logs, but placed me OOS for the sensor... cause that truck was gonna move sooo far with a tow otw........

Not a dot, but he then carted me off to jail for some of the knives he found on my truck while searching for drugs because I'd been in Dallas, and we all know that Dallas border is a drug smuggling den! He confiscated 3 of the knives and put my HANDGUNS back where they'd been...

    I know.

But, really, how is safety affected when one number on the bol is missed?

Or, if the unit number or trailer number does not have the alfa number on the log, but the rest of the numbers?

2 years ago on I-8, just west of Casa Grande, Az., I was pulled over by a Pima County Sheriff's commercial officer. I was written a warning ticket, because at 75 mph (posted speed limit on I-8, my mudflaps on a set of doubles WERE NOT "PARALLEL WITH THE GROUND"... I'm normally very nice to the police, but this was like, "your kidding me right" ? That and a piece of the DOT tape looked "worn"...Both warnings, but it must have been a very slow day on I-8.
