Set a timer and see. I imagine DOT will check it sometime.

In my defense, my carrier only uses 2 shippers, and it's a specific product for dedicated contract accounts. Normally, at a carrier where you don't know where you are going from one day to the next, I would say 30 min for the check in process.

I'm using paper logs, and I'm pretty much told to "back up" my clock as much as possible to make for as much drive time as possible. I'm doing what I'm told is all, however I am on the look out for a better place, that even uses elogs to get out of lying as much as they tell me I need to.

NO, your right to a point. When you arive at a shipper/receiver you need to stay On Duty/Not Driving for a min of 15 minutes. Then after that you can go on SLEEPER. That shows you were in your truck. Off Duty shows you were not in your truck and you cant do that while sitting at a shipper/receiver.

Being paid by the and not per mile. You will need to log on duty not driving as your time keeping must match during a audit. If you log book is not the same as your time on your paycheck then it is a false time keeping. Both the driver and company will be in violation.

Just the new required 30 minute off duty break proves you wrong .

You can log Off Duty while out of the truck at a shipper . The QC handbook says drivers can log off duty while out of the truck if they leave the keys in the truck and the customer has someone qualified to move the truck . I've done it many times . QC had a real tough audit a few years ago and got nailed on several things but this wasn't questioned .
