My dad started a type of courier business for people who want to send stuff to their relatives down in mexico. So he crosses the border in a packed mini van with people's stuff. Due to the fact the mini van is small he has to return back to get more stuff that didn't fit.
so what i want to know is what are the requirements, besides have a cdl license to drive a truck, for him to pass the mexican border, in a truck, and use the commercial highway used by the big courier business. This would help him on the time it takes to deliver and it would help expand his business.

Cheap way would be buy an enclosed trailer to pull behind van or get something that can pull it . But I do not know the answer

How much more trailer would he need to expand? I agree with cmbks21, if he can just get a enclosed trailer and pull with current vehicle, or even buy a bigger vehicle to pull the trailer, or even go up to a truck like a U-Haul or Ryder or Penske size truck. I doubt he needs to go up to a class 6,7 or 8 trk just yet.
