I bet you did man! Great engines. This whole thing is out of hand, forcing this stuff down our throats is just wrong. I never wanted to be the test lab rat with this new junk. Getting 2 more years out of older trucks is great for me, but I do feel for you man. I wish these newer trucks on no one.

I just hope with all the lawsuits against the engine makers, they get together and push for this crap to stop, until they can perfect the emmisions that are already out.

Yes he is right. That old freightliner is compliant. I have a lot of old friends in the dirt business that have '96 and older trucks and are good until 2016. That is also a big reason the rates havent gone up. Supply and demand. Its cheaper to aquire and operate and older truck. Im not talking about the nice well kept older trucks. Im talking about the guys who only buy used tires, never change the oil, fix only the stuff thats falling off and never wash the thing. I could operate a truck that for $70hr too. It boggles my mind how in one of the most,if not the most expensive state to operate a truck, you find some of the lowest rates in the country for local and regional work. Guess that points to the people operating these trucks and we all know who we are talking about

So, how's that $3000 truck payment working out for all you guys who thought CARB was going to shut down old trucks? LOL... Are you finding it tough to compete with guys who paid $6000 for their old Freightliner when you pay that every 60 days for your truck? Still think OOIDA's got your back?

Well let's see. My truck payment is actually $4900 a month. Most people who haul what I haul make CARB really didnt affect. More of an inconvience of having to buy a new truck.I have actually seen an increase in freight and rate. So that $6000 Freightliner doesnt compete with me anyway. CARB should enforce their regualtion on everyone equally and that fact that they dont, I really dont find all that funny. Im not a member of OOIDA and never asked them to watch my back. I look out for number 1. Its all in the freight you haul. Trust me CARB is the enemy.

So, will the trucks with just a DPF always be compliant, or will they have to eventually install a DEF system too?

Fitting a DEF system to a non-DEF truck is nearly impossible.

I just don't haul in California, simple as that... come to think of it, I don't haul anywhere except where I live...
