We were not given a choice, that is the issue! Money via lobbyist/mad at trucker groups, lawyers & Anne Ferro saw to that.

op... if youyp didnt want to sit for so long. why accept the load? get another one sooner so you dont sit? if you are required to sit till monday to get the load, your issue is not the 34 hour reset but the waitng on the load.

I wish we would just go back to the way it was before there ever was a reset... just run your hours on the recap and be done with it. When i first started we could only drive 8 hours then 8 off. Worked fine then.

you can run on recaps. noone says you are required to do a 34 hr reset. law says if you want to do a 34 hr reset to regain your 70 hours, you must have 2 periods between 0100 and 0500.

I have been out awhile, but soon to return. None of this is familiar to me. I drove team and we did 10 hour shifts. That's all I know. Could you guys explain this stuff to me? 34 hour reset for 70 hours, but not mandatory if doing a recap? I don't understand this stuff.

Uh...how long have you been out of trucking?

Running on recap has always been there and resets have been around for almost 10 years now.

Like I said, I have been out awhile. I haven't driven for about 14 years. Went back into the Marine Corps and about to retire now. We never talked about recap. I have no idea what that is. We drove team, east coast to west coast and back, 10 hour shifts, one day off a week-maybe.

First off... thank you for your service...

this would be a very lengthy explanation for this format... you can and should go to a truck stop and purchase the green dot book which contains all the rules and regs... study the section on hours of service.

more than likely if you plan to work for a company they are going to require you to go through a refresher course and possibly cdl school all over again. They do this normally if you have been out over 2 years.
