I'm all for detention, and I get detention. I am paid way more than minimum wage when I have to sit though. I hope this doesn't give carriers the incentive to change the rate to minimum wage.
-
I like that! I hope the goverment does not get involved, it will only screw it up more. Have you ever seen them fix anything? just saying. No detention pay, no go. We need to create a site for companies that do not pay detention, then we know ahead of time and can stay away as owner ops. The big companies track this, why cant we?

Time will tell what exactly will happen.I would like to see detention paid the very second drivers arrive at the customer not sitting at the dock so long then gets paid.Maybe that will motivate the shps and con to get the lead out and ld/unload right away.I do think not getting compensated does cause some drivers to drive tired or to the last minutes of their clock to get every possible mile they can.

How long have you been an o/o and have you received much detention pay when you have received detention when you're sitting at the dock? I would like to see drivers receive more then minamum wage while at the dock.

I work in the oilfield and there is a standard hour or two for most companies that you sit for free, after that, detention pay. If the company says no detention pay, I refuse the load. we keep a list among us that keeps most of us out of trouble. I see no reason to make this a government intervention deal. The market dictates what happens. If you are willing to sit for free, good for you. Like the other poster said, he hopes it doesn't get dropped to nothing with intervention. There is always people who do it cheaper and will sit for free. I say let them. I know what i am worth and i will get it. If the company i currently haul for drops wait time, I will be looking the next day. Do the hard work and you will be successful. Have a wonderful day Y'all!

Wish company drivers can refuse loads but unfortunately they can't.So more times then not they don't get paid detention and if they do they have to sit for so many hrs before it kicks in.Also how do the drivers know if their company isn't receiveing detention the second the drivers are in the dock and keeps all that money.

My company makes ya sit 4 hrs with no detention, after that its$16 a hour with a max of 8 hrs $128. And when they send you on a load thats already late they dont wanna pay that,i told em thats cool route me to the yard ill go somewhere else.they paid it.
