Long story short. I applied for twic in 2012. I was allowed one. I had it sent to Texas. By the time it came Schneider had already laid us off of the crude oil account. Never was able to pick it up and thought I didn't need it. Came home to Alabama and requested it be transferred to local office. Still haven't received a call to get it. Called Tsa and they are faxing me something to prove I'm a twic holder.

Now my question....does anybody know if I can access a port with the verification from Tsa?

You can access without TWIC (at this point it really is useless) but if you're already a TWIC "cardholder", there's no reason you couldn't be found in the database and sent your card. Remember, this is the government, and it will take them a while..... Lol.

Use in conjunction with your CDL you should be okay. If not you can always use an escort to get in until you get it straightened out. They are usually $25- $50. Tax deductible! :)

Ok thanks. I just wanted to be sure before I set myself up for the epic fail of the year award. That should make the bossman happy. I rushed and got an expedited passport and had it mailed to the ta I'm at. The twic was my last hurdle to open up the doors to some Canadian loads. It's supposed to be on its way to ga but that does me no good in ny lol and I like to stay out and play for 3 months at a time so hopefully I saved a trip back south. Thanks for the answer

I was not aware the TWIC card could be used for Canada crossing. You can get a FAST card at the border crossing to Canada.

The twic was to enter port Elizabeth. I got the expedited passport for canada crossing. I couldn't take the load though. The guy on the phone at the port very "kindly" let me know...without a actual twic in hand he would not let me in unless I got clearence from the coast guard. After that conversation...I'm not upset about pulling that load. I got one from ny to Denver for the same rate so oh well
