Been hearing lots of different stories and want to know the truth. How strict are weigh stations in CA on the laws that came into effect in 2014? Are those laws even being enforced?
Also heard CHP isn't enforcing it at all, only some other agency, and that the emissions law is being repealed. Or some of it. And heard that small companies, with <5 trucks, are exempt.
What's the truth - what's really going on with CA?
Those CA emissions laws that were implemented this year, how strict are they?

Law is in place, enforcement is done by CARB, not CHP. Carb agents cannot pull you over, but they can set up in weight stations, checkpoints, & truck stops.
Small fleets (under 3 trucks) need to have at least 1 truck compliant (or to have registered a financial hardship before January 2014).
Otherwise you are allowed 1,000 miles/year. -
I'm over there every week with my '01 Volvo, no one bothers me or the tens of thousands of other older trucks running up & down the roads over there.
Also, law got kicked to the curb for anther 2 years. Nothing to be afraid of, come on over. -
They shoot you then take your truck, trailer & load...

Yes there are plenty of non-compliant trucks; yes you probably won't be bothered. But you could find yourself getting a $1,000+ ticket at any moment. And the penalties for continued non-compliance start at $1,000 per month per truck. -
the truck also has to be registered, don't it???????
for whatever registration that carb wants
