They were only flexible in that there was the split sleeper game one could do. Other than that, there was nothing spectacular about the old, old, HOS rules. There was no reset. It was strictly a recap game. Same 70 in 8, 60 in 7 game we have now. People fudged things on paper then, and they fudge things on paper now. And the world keeps turning.
