I forget all the time and get a friendly reminder that says something to the effect of "You need to review & approve your logs"

The one I used made us sign the previous day's log on the first change of duty status the next day.
-
Elogs can be seen 24/7 if it doesn't break down.. you can't run or hide from it.. i do mine upon completion of each trip..
-
Mine brings up approval screen at first change of duty after midnight. Which is usually when I go to pretrip after my 10

So... what happens when you run into one of those DOT officers who insists you're supposed to sign your log at the start of your shift?
-
I just do an approval at the end of a 14 hr cycle or end of my drive day. That is basically once in 24 hrs, but may not be the same time every day. Seems like a good time to remember to do it. I do my post trip on duty few minutes, then go to off duty or sleeper and send in an approval at the same time.
As for the start of shift thing, I don't worry. Only ran into that once with a WI DOT. I just let safety know and never heard another word about it. How it got resolved, I don't know and don't care. Didn't change a single thing I was instructed to do with the e-log. Definitely on the bottom end of the stack of things to worry about. -

I approve once a week. Just in case I have to edit something.
