I believe that when a driver receives or makes a phone call, he should pull off to the right side of the road, and answer his phone, with his four way flashers on. If he feels the call is going to last more than 15 minutes, he should place the caller on hold, and go out and place his reflectors in their proper place. Then he can continue on with his phone call. Having 3 to 4 trucks sitting along side the interstate every 1/2 mile, should make them rethink this asinine regulation.
    Just a thought

Maybe talking on the phone while driving should be an endorsement on your CDL. I think the driving test should be taken while talking on the phone, that would weed out a lot of the poor performers, so they could go into some other kind of work, instead of trying to muddy up trucking.

I'd like to hear Larry The Cable Guy's "I Believe ..." performance on this topic

The penalty for a trucker talking on hand held cell is already higher than a 4 wheeler drinking and driving. It amazes me the number I still see doing it.Most accidents are already known to be caused by 4 wheelers and still we are the whipping boy.

Be thankful you can still use cb. A recent attempt to ban them failed. But will surely resurface.

I guess the FMCSA hasn't figured out that for every new rule they come up with, in most accidents, drivers are still using the good old fashioned ways to kill people.

It seems that shortly after a new rule goes into effect, there's a rash of headline-making crashes that either have nothing to do with the new rule, or happened in spite of the new rule. The FMCSA is trying to reduce accidents by playing whack-a-mole, using new laws as the hammer, while ignoring the fact that the most basic accident prevention laws aren't being enforced.

So maybe they could start by enforcing laws that *already* exist. Why not ticket the cars and trucks that go barreling thru cities and construction zones like a bull in a china shop?? And GA/TN could spend all morning writing tailgating tickets at the border on I75, yet I never see any enforcement. What about cars passing trucks and cutting back in the granny lane without leaving space?

These are things that cause big wrecks, kill people, and clog up freeways. And these are things that are still going to happen, even if you make cell phones as illegal as heroin.
