The reality of it is, I don't want to pay $20 for a hamburger! The cost of living is going to go thru the roof and show all problems with the hours of service.
explain to me how the cattle industry is going to make this work? A lot more money for the price of beef, that's how!
Think about more then the stupid awensers people post on here like, "E-Logs are great, I can still run hard and get lots of miles" I don't want to run hard, or get lots of miles! I want to make money! The unattended consequences of E-logs are going to cost America more money then anybody can think of. Then the idiots in our government will try and make a million other laws to cover it up, it will never end!DrtyDiesel, HalpinUout, rogueunh and 2 others Thank this. -
The elogs isn't the problem, it's the money that comes along with it. There is no right company, when it comes right down to it the companies are getting gold mine and the driver is getting the shaft. The carrier is able to offer real time tracking on their loads which in today's technology world is a very big selling point to future potential customers. Simply regardless of what company you work for there will be simple breakdowns, road construction, delays at shipper/receivers, accidents, and many more things that can delay you. Myself if I wanna eat 5 meals a day or stop by and chase mama around nobody needs to know that other than me. It does appear dinosaurs like me that enjoy or even have a home life to go home for is a dieing breed in trucking world anymore. If you are a bad carrier and have bad safety practices or a bad driver with bad safety practices by all means you deserve to have the world telling you when you can eat, sleep, drive, and how fast you can go. For the rest of us that has sacrificed our lives for many years now providing safe efficient service I'm gonna quote Hank JR " you can keep the change".

I'm not in the cattle industry so i dont know the ins and outs of that, I ran Foodservice on Elogs and i run Van Tl on elogs now. First America is costing america money with the never ending rules. Maybe as a company drivers Elogs are a problem me having my truck leased onto a carrier running the max miles doesn't really matter to me i'm paid a load percentage. Since I been on E-logs OTR I love it, yes the system cost me to get installed but having it is non issue.daf105paccar Thanks this. -

I'd rather be on paper and have no speed limiter, but that's just me.
Grumppy Thanks this. -
solution is simple
if you have your own authority and one truck, dont leave
find 10 sheeple who love elogs and make money off of their docilityDrtyDiesel and osokusmc Thank this. -
I think you are making the mistake that compliance = safety.
Also, why would you feel the need to run your nuts off if you weren't on the electronic leash? I run paper and I don't work more than about 55 hours max in a week. I am against the elog because there are simply times when you are just plain screwed and there is zero flexibility for it. What do you do when you are 30 minutes from your delivery location, you got delayed due to bad weather in the middle of your day? How good of an idea do you think it would be when you call your customer in the morning and tell them it will have to be rescheduled? Then the customer tells you well we have to make the appointment for the next day. Ok, so now the company has to find the money somewhere to compensate the driver for another non productive day. All the while company drivers are disgruntled about how much money they think their carrier is making off them.
I agree there are some bad actors who push the limits far beyond what is reasonable. I think for carriers with bad safety scores, yes they should be forced onto electronic logs. However, for the carriers that are doing just fine and have a good safety record and no accidents, why should they be forced on it?Arielit0oo, DrtyDiesel, Joetro and 5 others Thank this. -
It is ironic, the people who demand to be treated right by their boss, then welcome being treated like a child by the government. There's got to be a clinical term for such mental illness.
