The company may require a pretrip and/or post trip with a report. I'm not sure how the place I run from will handle this, but it won't save them all that much, just less to file.

My dot auditor told me not to always have clean dvirs. So now I'll mark something the same day it gets replaced. E.g. lights -- repaired by driver. Or tires, replaced by shop.

This only saves paperwork for companies that mail their logs and DVIR's in. Anyone using it scanner logs or eLogs will see no benefit.

Double yellow is correct, although I have never had a safety guy at any company tell me to make it "look good" with an occasional entry/ repair.
And since CSA and roadside inspections are in vogue, looking at my last 7 days is even less effective.
Just as good as an annual inspection on a vehicle that travels 200,000 + miles per year.
    They mean well...

I was told the same thing. I once had a DOT cop remark how our company must have a great maintainance shop and near perfect equipment. Why? Because he had never seen a dvir from my company with anything wrote up. So i would write up a light here and there a sign it off myself. As far as the new thing, I'm sure my company is going to want us to keep doing them anyway.

When I did the copy paste I thought I got the whole thing, but obviously missed the head line, thanks for a little help.
