I'm being told by my companies DOT doc that if you are a CPAP user a new sleep study is required every year now. Has anyone else heard this?

That's just crazy. I am a CPAP user and I asked my doc about needing another sleep study. He said they do recommend them, but only after a couple years of use and/or a noticeable change in weight. Every year? Ridiculous.
TruckDuo Thanks this. -
Get the #### away from your company. You don't have to get a new one every year.

Giving doctors the green light as I see it means these guys only see $$$ signs and will tell you anything so they can perform deep open wallet surgery.
If you need a yearly test, then let the company pay. But it's not necessary.
How can it be if your card is for 2 yrs.
As yet as we all know, there are no laws pertaining to a sleep test or sleep apnea.
The FMCSA have only given some half baked "guidelines" to doctors.
companies like Schneider have made it a company rule and you have accept that.
But anything else is out the window. If the doc insists then you have the right to seek a second opinion.TruckDuo, 88 Alpha and semi retired semi driver Thank this. -
Some company doctors don't allow a second opinion.

What do you mean?

My understanding is folks with Sleep Apnea are only getting one year cards now. Only takes a "nap" test to recert but still lots of $ for the Healthcare industry. Lots of other stuff is too. Ever taken medicine for Depression? 1 year card and you need a shrink to sign off every year. My personal theory is they're trying to make it de facto one year without changing the rule.
