If I was assigned a truck that even had the slightest smell of cigar/cigarette, I would refuse the truck and wait for a non-smoker truck.
Companies should absolutely charge the driver a cleaning fee wether they smoked in it or just trashed it.
Also no matter how much you clean the inside of a truck that's been smoked you will never fully get rid of that smell.brysol01 Thanks this. -

crzy: Why would you say that. I drove a Volvo 670 that was owned by a chain smoker. We had oit steamed clean to get the black out of everything. It was very clean when we were through and the cleaner really new his stuff. He used 2 kinds of smoke kill. Smell went away. After 5 months I could detect a faint smell of smoke. I left that company and 6 months later was waiting at a dock and my old truck showed up. Woman driver. I told her about my experiences with the truck. She asked me about the smoke smell. I went over to her truck and it was almost as if it had never been cleaned. My daughter works at a large car dealership. Smoked cars get detailed by a professional. She says it is temporary. Comes back within 6 months. They even tried the ozone treatment to no avail. Maybe if you threw away the seats, changed the headliner and any other fabric. Removed the floor mats and insulation it might improve. Or if the truck was only smoked in for 2 years or so.
