As i posted, i need information on where the best place i can get a CDL in houston. After about 2 years of thinking, i decided i wanted to be a truck driver when i went on a trip with one. I have to say to me, thats like perfect lifestyle.
I also wanted to know how I can get started, I will be turning 20 later this year, i know i wont be getting hired any time soon, but i wanted to set a plan and get things ready.

the driver you took a trip with. did they own their truck? or were they a company driver? another good question. why do you want to be a truck driver? the life style really isn't that great. each company is different. and the trucking career is different for each driver. some do great, others just get by, and many end up changing jobs every 6 months to a year. and others end up broke and homeless from the trucking career. some good advice. I would spend $5,000 or more on an education that the feds can't take from you for what ever reason they can dream up.

Dont you still have to be 21 years of age to be an OTR Driver? Start at your local DPS/DMV office and get the study guide for the license. Make sure you meet the requirements first before you think to hard about it.

Son your 10 years to late. The big monster lines turn out robots from what I have heard. Best to you.
The Bostrom IV captain's chair was his comfort zone. Most of the time he kept his right hand within reach of the engine retarders. & the nitrous. 18 speed. The Western Star sped through the night. Long away from wishing he could be gone from the place he knew as a child. The dogs were working, all three radios were on, watching the mirrors. The Cat's rhythm. 6.5 million on the Low Boy behind him. I hauled garbage cans with a wore out pick up to start. If I can, You can too. Keep pushin' on. Tough at your age, but not impossible. Some under the age of 21 start with household goods movers and just work within the state; can't cross the state line until you're 21. Look in the yellow pages or google for household goods moving companies and ask to be a drivers helper.

Some states allow CDL school for 18-20 yr. olds. Google for CDL schools, private and community college, and find out which ones allow it. Ask your local DMV if they issue CDLs for intrastate driving.
