Roehl Training sends you to DPS when done with school?

I know that community colleges send you to DPS to take all the driving test when done with school. Does Roehl do the same thing? Or do you take all the test like your final driving test at Roehl's school where a Roehl instructor gives you the test.

What I'm saying is that I'd rather go to school and do all the test and all the paper work at the school instead of going to the DPS office where you gotta deal with the wait times and hours and all that stuff. I guess I'd feel more comfortable with the actual school giving me all the test instead of DPS doing it themselves. When it comes time to memorize all the engine parts on the truck, thats where I will have the most trouble. I'd rather this test being given by the school itself as opposed to DPS.

In Texas the pretrip is a 30 or 50 question test on the computer. During your road test you do the air brake test and drive.

I cannot speak for other states, but NV has DMV licensed testers that can work for a school, so I only had to go to the DMV branch to take the written (computer) tests.

I went to a Technical College in Wisconsin. Two of our instructors did all the testing. We only went to the DMV to take the written test for the learner's permit and again, to take our road tests in to get our license processed and printed. That was 3 years ago. Now our licenses are REAL ID and are made in California and mailed to our home address.

Roehl Transport currently has third party examiners test on-site. The pre-trip, backing and road portions of the 'road test' are all taken on the same lanes you practice on if you were to attend their 3-week driving school. There are a few roads that you could drive on in Marshfield with the examiner that the trainers are not permitted to use, but it's not anything too difficult.

I just completed my exam yesterday, overall not to stressful of an experience. Hope this helps.

How would you rate the Roehl training?

I have nothing to compare it to. They are extreamly safety oriented, and I felt I was taught enough to do my job safely. Efficiency is something I always work on. I'm still happily employed and don't regret my decisions. Only con may be that training after school is short and varies depending on the driver trainer.
