Looking to possibly get hired on with a company that pays you to go to their CDL school. I need some recommendations, I am in Pensacola, Florida.
I would like a company that has a flatbed division if possible. even if I have to wait to transfer to it.
I wanted to go to school on my own, but the way the cards are right now I just can't I'm gonna have to go to a company with a school unless I get hired on to go work on the inshore boats out of Louisiana.
I have a TWIC if that helps my chances at all. & need to be able to give my currently employers a 2 week notice
May be biting the bullet, Looking for the right company.

Don't bite bullets. They aren't very yummy.

As far as I know there are no companies that will pay you while you are in school. That is because they will not hire you until you have a CDL. You won't go on the payroll until you have a CDL and start the OTR training phase with a trainer.
Some companies will not charge you for the CDL school until you have been hired. They will require you to sign a contract and once the contract is completed, they will waive the school fee. If you break the contract, you will be on the hook for the school fee.
i could be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure no one will hire you to be a truck driver if you don't have a CDL. -
Knight Transportation will actually PAY you as you are attending their truck diriving school. $400 per week as I recall.

Roehl and Prime have flatbed divisions and their own CDL school. You can start right out in flatbeds.
Keep that TWIC up to date and get tanker endorsement. Later you can switch companies and consider SVTN in Saraland, AL. Good money there & more than you can make in flatbed. -
I have talked to pretty much every company sponsored training program you can think of in the last couple of months. To date, Knight is the only one I have found that will pay you as you attend their program.

Be sure to get ALL your endorsements, especially HazMat. With the TWIC card the OP will be set.blairandgretchen and Chinatown Thank this. -
Swift does, Conway does, I think most of them pay something. I think they have to. They charge for the training, be sure.

Swift pays for the last two days of a three day orientation. They don't pay you during school.
