If I went into detail, the truck school would know who I am and may retaliate. So for this reason I will keep it vague.

I went to IITR and they give you the answers to all the tests on day one. The only people that do not get 100% are those with integrity like myself that truly want to know how we are progressing.

The classroom instructor is a 5th grade drop out that is functionally illiterate. He has a verbal tick where he says "ya know" at the beginning, middle, and end of every sentence in valley girl speak. It will drive you insane to listen to him tell his stupid trucking stories.

After you get your CDL permit, you do backing maneuvers in the yard for a week. The same instructor that taught the class demonstrated the backing maneuvers once and then you practice it all morning, every morning, day after day for a week. He shows you how to hook and unhook a trailer, etc. the basic but does not evaluate or coach you as you are on your own.

Once you start your drive, some instructors will throw cheap stupid insults at you and they are some of the dumbest animals I have ever encountered. One instructor really does not care if you double clutch or not, gear grinding is not problem at this school. It goes down hill fast from there...

I am not sure if there are worse schools, I am sure there are but IITR is all about the money and the instructors will pick on you and not necessarily instruct. I did better than most people that had never driven a truck before but I was well prepared before I came to class since I had studied for months. We did not have fun like the students claim to do at Elite Trucking school and I never want to pay someone to have morons like Ron or Dan insult me.

If you are looking for a better quality school around Portland Oregon, I would choose Elite based on what people say. Many of the students that are in my class have no business going to trucking school for a variety of reasons, from mental to physical problems. IITR will take your money anyway. As far as being ready to go out and drive a truck after graduation, 90% of the students are not ready to even start training with a company or are too screwed up for other reasons to be employable.

If you complain, be prepared to be chastised for that. Even if you complain about being picked on or worse. Most students just keep their mouth shut and their heads down so as to not attract attention of the pool of stupid that run the place. If I could go back and have a do over, I would definitely have chosen Elite over IITR in the Portland Oregon area.

I'm an IITR (Clackamas) grad with no complaints, my experience there was positive.

If you go read his previous posts, it all sounds sincere to me...

It was a seasoned TTR member that recommended he go talk to IITR. I doubt it was some kind of ploy so that the OP could return months later to promote their competitor.

Probably right but maybe his expectations weren't realistic and or perhaps he has delicate sensibilities ,it's been a few years since I was there so maybe it's different now but I wouldn't think very much different.
I can just imagine what he'll be like dealing with a company trainer if CDL school is so much of a problem.

I certainly can't vouch for his experience at the school. I was just pointing out that he didn't appear to be a typical spammer/troll.

And I completely agree. Trucking is not an industry known for niceties.

If I had a dollar for every person who came out of a truck mad because I couldn't instantly and magically give them the ability to back a trailer, I would be a rich man. They need to place their ire and blame at someone.. the schools and instructors are pretty handy. There are a ton of crappy schools out there.. there are ton of crappy instructors out there but they are dwarfed by the people who go in thinking that any idiot can hop in a truck and drive it down the road..
