Cool Sage Technical Services

I have been wanting to get into the truck driving thing and have been exploring the different ways to do that. After reviewing company sponsored programs and CDL schools I figured I would try Drivers Solutions and try to drive for Pam because it seemed to be the easiest way and the cheapest way to do it since I dont have $4K-$6K for a CDL school. The guy at Drivers Solutions told me that Pam goes back 5 years on possession charges and I had one in July 2004 so that shot that idea and then decided I would look at schools one more time.
I was wondering if anyone has attended one of the Sage Technical Service schools or know anyone that has? Just from what I read they seem to be the top or one of the top trucking schools in the country. Plus the fact they have different financing options appealed to me since I would have to quit my job to goto training. So if anyone has information about Sage I would appreciate your insight.

Music sage

I attented sage in my hometown in 1998, graduated in 1999 and found the school to be very good. They are known here to have testing scores in the 90% area at the state test site. The driver trainer in truck time was one on one at that time. I went through a local transport company and had to agree to work for them for six months, after completion I left with good training and my CDL, and no residual tuition bills. If you can find the money to pay the 3500 hundred tuition yourself, you will have better options upon graduation. A fine school. drive55cat

I have a number of friends who went through the Sage school in NC at Isothermal Community College. They appreciated the one instructor with no other students in the truck during their driving time. Surprisingly about 1/3 of their students come from out of state. I have heard as far away as California. It is the only Sage school I have heard anything about though.

I went to Sage just over a year ago, and after seeing what the School where I work is like, I thank my lucky stars that I got outside schooling. I paid a lot more than most places, but I also got a lot more out of it. The Sage in northern Idaho was great; laid back, informative, and with enough diversity in the teachers that you didn't get just one side of the story. Plus, they let us park our truck at their range when we're home, which takes care of trying to find a home for it. All in all, I really enjoyed my training there.

I decided not to go to Sage. There is a trucking school about an 1 1/2 hours from me that offers PTDI certified courses and I have heard good things about them. The school is run by former truck drivers and its cheaper and close enough that I can ride my Harley there and not have to worry about lodging. Sage said the could get me a deal on lodging for about $900 a month and I told them to get ****'d. No way am I paying $900 dollars a month for lodging and wouldnt encourage anyone else to do so either.

Advice

How's going Harley, I have been also looking for a truck company to go to. I have read bad thing about Stevens and CR in this forum that just happen to find today. Drivers Solutions also offer me to go their school and work for PAM. I would like to hear more about this company, the brochures look they are organized and it seems fair to start with.

Thank You
Edwin

P.S.

From what I have read and you will to, Stevens and CR are companies you will be better off to stay away from. Like I said, research the site and you will find your answers.

I talked to a lady from one of SAGE's driving schools, and for the 150 hour (44 hour one-on-one driving) course it costs $3995. I swear I read on their website that they provide housing, but at least for that location you have to pay for a hotel. Perhaps I was wrong. I should be getting an email from them with more information, so if I get some new info I'll que you in.
