Anybody know the difference in weight between a solid steel, and a combo Flatbed 48'. Want a regular tandem axle trailer and can't find one that is a combo.
What is the difference in weight between an all steel Flatbed and a Combo?

A solid steel FB? The combo is steel frame-alum deck.
-
The weight between an all alum. and a combo can be as much as 4,000 lbs maybe more.

My 48' combo Talbert weighed about 10,500 lbs.... my Transcraft 48' steel weighed about 12,000 lbs.
It kinda depends on the trailer specs, if it has a coil package, etc.
My 48' Chaparral was under 9200 lbs. -

call transcraft and speak to tech support. they can ball park their trailer weights pretty close.

It depends on the manufacturer, there are companies that build combos that are really heavy, and companies that build steel trailers that are really light.
I had a 48x102 Ravens all aluminum step, it weighed about 10,500 lbs.
I had an all steel Doonan Black Gold all steel step 48x102, and it weighed about 11,000.
Even with a 2000 KW W900L, 600hp cat, 72" double bunk, 300 gal of fuel, myself, the puppy dog a whole bunch of tools, and the doonan, my empty weight was right at 32,400
I just looked up the stats on Doonan's site.
Here is a linky: http://www.doonan.com/2009%20Doonan/Dropdeck%20Specs.pdf
It is for thier 48x102 steps, it also shows the chapparal all aluminum. which is only 8759 lbs, I was suprised by that.Cat nip Thanks this. -
As far as im concerned a transcraft trailer is worth nothing more than the scrap value.
Search long and hard for issues people have had with transcraft trailers, I promise you as a owner opperator it is a trailer that will nikel and dime you to death.KingRaheem and Travelinman Thank this. -
