did you have the work done at a dealer, if so it could still be under warranty if you really feel its the oil cooler that has failed.

b-4 u go stressing out like i did. pull over at the top of a grade with the temp indicating way too hot like 230. Using you're $29.00 infrared temp gage,(HarborFreight) made in China but they work. point it at the tubo supply line. Then shoot the oil filter. I found these temps to be 20' COOLER! I don't know where the oil temp sender is, but i have a feeling from reading these post, a lot of them are off. Maybe the darn thing is cast into the block and it's sensing oil that just got sprayed at the pistons. Having said all that the Cummins guy said the lube oil t.stat doesn't even start to open till 230. I wanna get my hand on a t-stat to play with. I don't know how disconnecting the EGR is going to do anything since the EGR is fail safed to go wide open when disconnected, thus constantly dumping exhaust gas to the intake manifold. Disconnecting EGR has the opposite effect than I thought. Has anyone actual benched an EGR or are people just disconnection stuff.
We gotta due are own research guys, but lets make sure it's fact based. There's a war on our lively hoods. I'm 65 years old and been out here since 1976.I still love truckin, but the inviro Nazi's are ruining my fun.Last edited: Jul 15, 2015

But the air we breathe is the same limited supply that we are polluting every day. I for one think there is enough clean air until I die. May not be enough for the generations to follow unless we start cleaning it up.
I wish we could do both. Burn hydocarbons and breathe. Not possible to survive in a room filling up with exhaust fumes. Same thing we are doing to the earth.
Hope we find a solution and part of that solution will be solar. Electric energized vehicles.
Have a nice day. -
I have a cummins isx 500 on Volvo vnl 670, year:2011.
My truck when idling the temp is around 198. When im pulling 42k temp is going around 210-215 and when im pulling also heavy on uphill it goes not more then 227 or 228 and then the fan kicks on. Is that good ? I’m just worried because somebody says 250 or something which i never get that much temp on my dash.
Rebuild engine with 100k on it. Never had issues with the temp just curious. Thank you guys. -
All good with those temps.
