Fuel pressure or restriction gauge?

Just another thought... With a restriction gauge, will the FASS interfere with it? I don't have one yet, but it's on my to-do list. Thinking about it though, if the fuel filters become restricted, the FASS pump can't supply enough fuel past them so the main pump would still draw a vacuum. Anyone run both??

I just installed the FASS on my truck last week. Although I don't have either guage, I do know you have to install a seperate return line system to each tank because at 220gph (the bigger model) the factory return won't handle it. Therefore I think your restriction guage should still read properly because all fuel from the FASS will bypass to the tank before reaching your secondary filter (if restricted). Theoredically

    Yeah, makes sense.

I just found out from an inquiry at iowa80.com that the teltek fuel restriction gauge is discontinued because they can't get the parts to make them. That sucks...

With it bouncing around like that, it sound like to me that the re stricter has been taken out. What mine looked like was an adapter from 5/16 to 3/8 but when you take the line loose it was almost solid except for a hole that you might fit 2 pins through.

Restriction guage with a FASS is usless IMO. The FASS sends 30psi to the engine pump. The only way you would ever see a restriction is if the FASS was not pumping.
I have never had trouble with gelling since I installed the FASS. I think its because it can pump the fuel through even if its gelled a bit.

You don't think you'd see a restriction even if the filters are plugging up? Does the FASS pump draw through the filters or push through them?

It might be a moot point for me now anyway since the teltek restriction gauge seems to be on hiatus. I may just go ahead and get the pressure gauge and wait for them to start making the other again. I need more space for gauges. I've been toying with the idea of building a gauge pod to mount on top of the dash where some FL's have the CB bracket. I could add 3 or 4 gauges that way. :biggrin_25525:

I guess the 0-150 psi gauge is good enough, don't need the 0-300 right?

    OK, lemme help you out...
    1. Get a fuel pressure gauge.
    2. Do not get a fuel restriction gauge.
    - when your fuel pressure begins to drop, it's the first sign that your fuel filter is becoming clogged.
    - do your PM's between 15k and 18k miles.
    - don't fall for the BS when products say it'll go xxx miles before needing to be changed.
A fuel restriction gauge is simply a toy when you no longer have anything else to spend money on.
But as said above... Fuel pressure gauge will indicate a fuel restriction (usually the filter or fuel water separator) when properly monitored.
Note... Change fuel filters and clean fuel water separator BEFORE installing fuel pressure gauge.
That way you'll know what your engines fuel pressure is. Also, check with a dealer and ask what it should be.
