I was curious. What are the benefits of having 24.5" wheels/tires over 22.5"?
I assume replacement 22.5" size wheels would be cheaper than 24.5" (less aluminum)
I also assume 22.5" tires are cheaper than 24.5"...
Is there a differnce in ride and/or handling?
Weight?
Or, is it just a "bragging rights" like the kids who put 22" chrome wheels on their Honda Civics?

here we use 22.5". Truck is lower, less problems with overhight.

All depends on what your doing with your truck. If you hual a van trl you you would probably be best suited with 22.5 low pro's or 11r22.5. If you go off road 24.5 will give you more ground also IIRC they also have a higher weight rating for over weight loads. As always it all depends on application

Low pros of either height have lower rolling resistance, 11Rs can carry more weight in either height. 24.5s in low pro are about the same height as 11R 22.5. Low pro 22.5s would ride about an inch lower than low pro 24.5s to the center of the axle.
22.5s low pros are what is specced for best mielage, but I don't think it makes that much diifference, as long as either size is low profile -
22.5 gives lower rplling resistance, means better fuel mileage

Keep in mind....
The taller the tire the longer it will last, more it will weigh, and more it will cost.
I've always run tall 24.5's. The ride is also better on the tall versus low pro.
The 22.5's are good for pickups and kids toys, IMO....ChadFelix Thanks this. -
Tall 24.5's aren't that practical for a highway truck. Low profile 24.5's are the same size as 11R22.5's but they ride a LOT rougher. Every truck I've owned ended up having low profile 24.5's on them and if there's one thing I've learned, my next one will have 11r22.5's.

Taller tires = less revolutions=better fuel mileage.Thats how it works for me anyway.
