yeah, I did it many times.
what to do mechanically, I sugest you know (swaping tranny cover and some air lines work with range unit/splitter if you have eaton)
Electronic works - to rewire VSS and reprogram ECM. There are some hidden traps, so if you'll start, be carefull with ECM passwords.cat from the valley Thanks this. -
Are you saying an UltraShift can be converted to a manual with clutch peddle, shifter, and all that good stuff???
if so talk to me...
thx,
Dr. G -
There is a good grinding machine man im my town, he made plate to install shiftstick on X-Y motors place and I did conversion w/o changing tranny cover.
To install clutch pedal is easy. I used to install mechanically controlled clutch and hidrolic clutch with air servo (from MAN F2000 with Eaton).
I also installed range inhibitor valve (i programmed ECM out pin for 30 MPH speed) and with this valve I cant shift range down at speed higher 30 MPH. -
i never used to downshift range at more than 15kmh , mostly when i stop some people used to change range down while they braking( for example on red light) i always change down only when i stop this is more healthier for gearbox only
only place when i down shift range group is on steep short hills but max at 20kmh, and gently as possible -

but 50kmh is too fast -it is already faster than low range , i think now modern eu trucks have 40kmh , even this it too fast i would put 25-30 kmh
-
it is easy to reprogram. 30 kmh, ok, no problem
