When the njector overfuled and melted the e h side of the turbo, i had to buy from cummins due to the screwy turbine flange they run which is their own.
The hewd of thr branch said i looked too young to own a big rig. When i told him it was my third he asked whar i thought of thr signature.... bad moce!

I told him he wouldnt like what i had to say but he wanted to hear any way... i told him it was a heavy lump of junk that didnt pull for crap, that thr service guys werent much help as i knew more in general aspects than their trained mechs and that i deeply regretted selling my star with a cat in it.

Surprisingly i walked out with a discount on the parts.

Every time he sees me now he asks if it has grown n me.. lmao. To be nice say not really but it gets the job done..

Im always seeing signatures broken down on the road, there is no way i would get one, but i would get a N14 if i stay with cummins (probably not LOL). you think after that conversation that he would set you up with a account where you automaticly get 50% off every for the life of the truck. from what i can work out their markup on parts here in oz is about 300% more than in the USA. so they could easily give you 50% off and still make more profit than they do in the states.

FIXED - engine starts quickly every time I turn the key and only cost me $66.00 including two adapter fittings and the check valve & labour to install. Cummins wanted $240.00 just for the part (check valve)

I also have the n14 460. Very very very hard to start cold cranks for ever before starting. Had no check valve and i put on on did not fix the problem. If you get this figured out lemme no im also thinking fuel pump. Does yours make a noise by the tank when shut of? And does your fuel get HOT?

It sounds like its bleeding down. You can try an electric pre pump and i would suggest tryng to find if it has an air leak somewhere.

An N14 requires 22 PSI before it will start. I fixed mine by installing a Racor filter on the frame between the fuel tank and the check valve. The Racor has a clear glass sediment bowl, it's heated and also has a primer pump on it.

The racor filter is in my opinion the very best filter set-up. It has its own check valve, very, very low restriction and you do not change filters until they are needed. Works for me!
I have tested hundreds of N14's and the pressure is climbing fast past 75 when it starts. Never tried it but learned something new then 22 lbs.
Normally if the check valve is bad you can hear the fuel sucking back when the filter is removed.
When ever you have the ECM cooler plate off you really want to remove the check valve, and fill with solvent or something and blast it back and forth. I have changed a few for being plugged, and they are very pricey, more than the fuel pump.
If you are going to have an N14 Cummins, you want a Compucheck fitting with a hose and a vacuum gauge and an oil filled 200lbs pressure gauge.

I had Kenworth in Edmonton install it for me, cost of filter and labor was only about $230. ??? With a drain on the bottom of the sediment bowl is was so easy to drain a bit in a nice white cup to see if any dirt was in there and also as water is heavier it comes right out when you open the drain ####. No gelling in the filter as it's heated.

never noticed a noise by the tank, fuel does not get hot. you may have air leak. you can check for air leaks on the suction side of the fuel pump by puting a small hose onto the 90 degree elbow fitting that is located just above where the fuel inlet is located on the fuel pump, and then run this hose into a container (you have to put a bung into the hose that you take off of the 90 degree elbow to plug it up while testing) then yoy start engine and watch the fuel flow into the container, once there is some fuel in container keep hose in the fuel and watch for bubble or a white-ish color. (white-ish color is very small bubbles) hope this helps
