Hi everyone i have a problem my brother's pete has a 475 cat, it's not running strong and we're lost on trying to solve it! We tested the cac it was good we checked the timing it was right we checked the injectors and found a couple that was weak so we changed them it improved alittle but still not where is supposed to be. Cat checked it and could'nt find anything wrong. We talked to the previous ower about anything he replaced or had repaired he said he had a new cam and timing gears installed after it broke down on him, we are stumped we had two different mechanics check the timing and it was spot on please help also we three different computers thanks.

Have you checked the fuel pressure? If not that would be a good place to start.
-
Checking the fuel lines and tanks wouldn't be a bad idea either.
-
Thanks for the replies but we have checked fuel pressure and the lines also.
-
What is the boost pressure under load? Air filters?
-
it boosts about 25 to 28psi and the filters are good donaldson is the brand we even ran them without the filters no luck i think the timing is retarded a tooth maybe what would happen if i advanced the timing 1 tooth

Try checking air to air coil mite not be holding enough turbo pressure
-
Replace the rest of the injectors, I have a friend that just went through this three weeks ago, after much testing he put in 1 injector and it was slightly better, they tested some more, couldn't pinpoint anything so at the suggestion of the guy where he got the 1 rebuilt injector he put the other 5 in and said the truck has never run so good
He got them from someplace in Mi, about $300 each
good luck!! -

I have a '98 also with a 475 Cat. It has a good bit of power loss and I had the air to air checked and it has a hole in it. $785 for a new air to air. Good luck, let us know what happens.
