I have 2 150 Gal tanks. The other night after driveing nearly 700 miles averageing 5.2mpg i stopped to get fuel. I put 12 Gal in the drivers side tank and it was FULL to the cap....the passenger tank took over 120 gal
I had this happen in this truck before except last time the Drivers side tank was almost MT and the passenger side was full
Any ideas? If it where the same tank i'd think maybe crossover tube plugged but switching sides...
BTW same thing happend the last night and today, 10-20 gal in drivers tank and 100+ in the passenger side

Somtimes they have a check valve on your fuel lines that could of got stuck close. The fuel should only be being pulled from your passenger side to your engine. Your driver side tank normally only goes directly to your passenger side. You can tell if its plugged if you fill up one tank then park on level ground for a few hours they should be equal.

I'm assumeing the truck needs to be idleing while doing that? I'll try that next time i fuel. I just dont wanna run "out" of fuel with 150gal in the tank lol

I'd say you have a vent thats plugged. If the vent is plugged then it creates pressure in the tank and the fuel will just return to the other tank. most peterbilts i've been around just have basically a tee in the line going to each tank and NO cross over tube.

Just fixed a truck with this problem a couple days ago. The problem on this one was the return fuel splitter valve. It had more restriction on one side than the other and more fuel was returning to one tank than the other one. Valve is about 40-50 dollars and you have 3 fuel lines and 2 nuts that hold it on. You do need to check the vent hoses on each tank as well though.

The splitter on my 379 went ca-fluey last fall... pull the transmission cover and you can access it easily from the top.

I just replaced mine (was leaking) and I would have the same problem. There is a little valve inside for the return, and mine was not working. I'd put 35 gal in one side and almost 100 in the other (I have 110 gal tanks)
It also was sucking in air and causing it to shudder under full boost. -
i had the same problem but i fixed mine a different way. i took the splitter out and put a crossover back on. i draw and return into the drivers side tank and let the crossover equal out the tanks. like everyone has said make sure that the vents are working however you fix it. johnny
