But that is a choice KW made. Not the EPA. Freightliner lets you spec all the way back to Cat 3406E or Cummins N-14 or drop any engine in you already have. You tell them what you want to do when you order, they provide all the wiring harness' and such to match up with the engine you choose and then you slap it together. KW is just licking the EPA's boots to do what they are doing.

I agree with you on that the decision on using the 2004 and newer engines is a choice that KW made. The gentleman asked why it was like that, and the simple answer is that is when a new EPA emissions regulation came into effect. Also, let's not act like Freightliner is the king of building or spec'ing trucks because they are the most basic cookie-cutter non-impressive trucks on the road. I'm happy for you that you are getting a glider built the way you want it by Freightliner, but come on, it's not even close to a Paccar product especially a Kenworth for owner customization choices. Yeah, Freightliner gives you some choices, but Kenworth is like Burger King in that you can "have it your way."

Really? You will have to explain why it took 16 pages of spec sheets to get my glider done. I was able to modify spec's on everything down to the brand of wheel seals in the axles. After doing this one from FL, now sure in one way how a Paccar truck could allow me more options. You want, I will provide the spec sheets to you and then you can point out what options I would be able to change in a Paccar truck that I wasn't able to in a FL truck.
Now FL may be the most non impressive truck running down the road due to body style, but that has nothing to do with being able to spec it the exact way you want it. You will have a difficult time trying to show that Paccar would have offered me more choices in spec'ing a truck that what FL offered me. I had access to the entire FL spec'ing operation just like any other new truck. Just ask my dealer. He will let you know that he had never had anyone modify so many things about how a truck was spec'd out. He is chomping at the bit to give it a drive. -

16 pages..... Haha, that is about the number of pages of interior options that a Kenworth has on its build sheet. I just recently built a heavy haul Lowboy truck for a customer, and it was 47 pages of options. If it took your salesman that many hours to build a truck with 16 pages then he needs to learn to pick it up and spec some more trucks. Now if you want, I will provide a spec sheet to a Kenworth and point out all of the options that you could have changed in a Paccar truck. I don't need to ask your dealer as I'm pretty familiar with the process of building and ordering trucks.
