Is this a question for a grown man to ask?? Why wouldn't a plugged MUFFLER cause poor mpg?? A motor needs to breath freely, less restriction means better performance.

plugged muffler causes restrictions and back pressure
-
Some rot on the inside and the internal baffles fall down and restrict the muffler.

but wouldnt you just blow the rot that has fallen right out the stack?

the muffler is wide open.
it's impossible to plug up.
i drove with a dead turbo for 3 months. black smoke and all. the muffler was black. but not one ounce of soot came out when it was pulled.
sitting in the shop. totally wide open still
i wouldn't even say the thing had baffles. just one noise suppression tube. and the muffler casing. was all it was. -
