Just wondering if anyone has had a retro fit dpf installed on their truck. If so, what manufacturer made it, and what was the approximate cost, and big thing , have you had problems with it.
Reason I ask is, I am looking at an 08 truck, built in 07 , but motor is an 06 I run CA. a lot. so this truck is only compliant to Jan 2014
So any comments on the " RETRO FIT DPF " would be grateful.

You worry too much - why don't you try not go bankrupt till then due to all the other engine troubles you might be facing? You don't even need to know about any filters yet, chill out and stop reading all that bs on internet or listen to idiots on radio. They need topics like that to get paid

I'm not worried about it RM as the truck I own now is carb compliant till 2023. just was wondering if anyone has a retro fit dpf on their truck that's all, so don't know why you figure I worry too much..
As for these talking heads on the radio, I don't listen to them. -
Cummins has a division that supplies pollution control modification, I believe it is under the Fleetguard division, A phone call should get you an answer.

Well, one thing is getting clear already - there are problems with those retrofit filters already as they need hot exhaust to work properly. Trucks that run locally - like container haulers - are plugging them quick. Now think about it - even Cummins didn't figured it out yet. They wait for testers, so they can learn when you will watch TV in nearby motel waiting for your truck to get into shop

RM The Truck I am looking at is a 2008 model year, but built first half of 2007, and the engine they used was the last of the 2006 engines. The truck I own now is a 2008 MY with DPF. I was looking at buying this other truck because it has a 132" sleeper on it, and was just wondering how the retrofits were doing, seeing I hadn't heard of anyone having a retrofit dpf.

Its better to have 06 engine and retrofit it with passive filter because that DPF will stay disconnected from the engine computer and if it fails - it is separate device. Amounts of recirculated exhaust are also much lower than on 07+ motors. If its healthy engine - go for it, anything after 06 is way more trouble

I work in a Cummins shop.we were installing the clearaire setup but that's on hold as there has been a few fires so installations stop until an investigation is finished
