I have a 6nz not producing boost. Is it possible for the boost sensor to be bad without a check engine light ?

Anything is possible, but it's not probable. How about a little more info? It shows no boost on the gauge? Lack of power? What makes you think that it's the sensor? What have you checked so far? There's many things that can cause low boost. It could be as simple as clogged fuel filters or a blown CAC hose, or it could be more serious/expensive.

Truck was running fine but once the boost hit 24 psi it would drop to 15 psi and start jerking, backed off the fuel and jerking would stop, truck ran fine as long as it didn't have to boost past 15psi. kept heading home but all of the sudden it wont boost past 3 or 4 psi. Checked the cac system, hoses and cooler are good, replaced the fuel filters. took a peek inside the turbo the impeller is fine and with no play. Truck will run to 2100 rpm thru the first few gears and you can hear the turbo spool a bit but after that there is no boost

It sounds like a fuel problem to me. I'd check fuel pressure, but putting a manual gauge on it and rig it up somewhere that you can see it driving. We had some issues in the past with bad fuel lines, they were coming apart internally causing a blockage.

ingedavi Thanks this.

Sounds like the fuel lines are collapsing thru the inside. I had this happen first hand BUT was on a mechanical engine.

yes about the boost sensor...no engine light/ceck engine ...det 12.7/volvo truck that is....but i have turbo boost sensor and the gauge was up ok....then drop to 1/4 presure and the engine was dying at every little road bump.....dealers wanted big repair $$$$......15 $ done
dgc Thanks this.
