I just had them fix a rock hit on a windshield .... With that resin crap that they inject in the crack.
Total cost $50 , took a 1/2 hour and I drove in with no appointment . Looks ok ...
Anyone have any experience with this repair. I'm in gravel pits all day long and my windshield is not that old. So I figured I had nothing to lose.......

I had it done by safelite twice. drivers side done about 2 years ago and passenger back in winter. I had to replace passenger side it cracked about a month after the repair. I would do it again.

if its less then the size of a quarter, it will generally last. Make sure they go any spider cracks with the reason.

have used them many times, and the repairs have held. It is worth the $50, instead of replacing the window...

If you have time, call the truck dealerships and ask who does their glass. I was in indy and called the fl dealer. They recommended some guy who had excellent quick service. Came out about an hour later. Charged like 25 bucks for a chip, and replaced the whole passenger windshield for like 150. Much cheaper then the big name. Most truck dealers dont do the glass themselves and have a vetted professional ready to go for you.

A few weeks back i made a appointment with safelite to replace a one piece curved windshield and gasket on my w900, when i showed up they had no idea who i was and didn't have the glass or gasket in stock, they said i could make another appointment in a few days LOL!
I contacted a local glass installer the next day and they installed it on my schedule which was at the end of the day for $250 with the gasket.Richter Thanks this. -

I have never used them for a crack, but have had very good service at reasonable rates for replacements.

I have used them, horrible service.

I used them a couple of years ago with a International 9400i with a two piece windshield. Was in Des Moines. Called them up the day before and said I would be at the Flying J (now Loves). Showed up on time with the correct windshield. Had it done is about 40 minutes. Just had to sit a couple of hours to let it cure. Not a single problem. I suppose like most things, different Safelite franchises can have different results. Different guys doing the work makes a difference to. I try to use a glass place near me when I am home, but have no problem calling Safelite while on the road.
