Does anyone have any diagrams or videos concerning servicing the EGR in a DD60?

I started pulling mine apart, from the mixer tube back, cleaning out carbon where I could, but I only got as far as getting venturi tube off before I started breaking hardware trying to remove it. The T-bolt on the EGR valve collar snapped, and the 3 bolts holding it down look pretty severely rusted. Also, the bolt holding down the port cover on the front was between a 7/16 and 1/2 as far as I could tell, so I don't know if it's metric, an off size, or just deformed (or if it even needs to be removed at all).

I'd like a little guidance so I don't end up wrecking anything that didn't need to come off in the first place. Thanks in advance for any help.

Metric fasteners. Are you attempting to replace any parts or just cleaning it up?

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad I got an answer on the fasteners before taking another crack at it.

I'm planning on inspecting and cleaning it, and seeing if that helps my mileage at all. I'll be replacing my turbo v-pod as well, since it has an air leak, and I'll have the EGR tested while the v-pod is being calibrated. I'd like the EGR to be clean so it doesn't get bad numbers due to soot rather than an actual mechanical issue, and possibly being replaced prematurely.

If I do end up having to replace it, at least everything will already be broken loose. I'd like to clean my EGR every few months as well to keep it running properly.

Sounds like some anti-seize would come in handy.

Ok. Ya use metric tools on that engine. Yea some anti seize will help as well. I've seen a few EGR coolers on 60 series that were completely clogged with soot. Idling all day and all night may be comfortable for some drivers but it can hit the wallet pretty hard. Havent worked on a detroit in a few years.

The rest of the engine is SAE. These are the first metric pieces of hardware I've come across.

It has an upgraded EGR cooler, so I'm hoping that might be OK based on the venturi soot levels, but only the butterfly valve will be a good indicator of cooler condition.

I don't start threads without doing research. If you have a specific video you're recommending, I'd appreciate a link. I have searched for hours over the last few weeks on this topic with no relevant results, on youtube, or otherwise.

I found out what the inspection port behind that 10mm bolt on the front of the EGR is for. It's to physically check that the valve has resistance free motion. Catching or dragging while turning the valve indicates a bad EGR valve that needs to be replaced.

I got a new V-band clamp to replace the broken one, but I haven't had the courage or the daylight to make an attempt at the three studs holding the EGR down.
