what can you tell me about these engines MBE-4000 Mercedes Engine 450 hp; C-15 Caterpillar Engine and, SR6012.7 Detroit Engine 430 hp?

I am trying to buy a used Freightliner Columbia and these are the options. I want good feedback like what is better? what is the easiest and cheaper to fix? which is the most reliability?

I went with the Detroit. No complaints yet. Just avoid the egr years and you can't go wrong.

mercedes are the crappy engines that freightliner had. If you talk about acert c-15, i personally think that mxs serial prefix is the best out of acerts. C-15 are known for more power but not much mpg. Detroit, less power and better mpg.

manue Thanks this.

Goin for 12.7 detroits when I'll buy a glider. If I get extra money, I would go for 6nz on gliders.

never complains on 12.7 detroit pre egr. My cousin already complains about his 14.0 egr. The intake valve was dirtier than exhaust valve. He paid $13k for egr, the head, and the protrusion. It is the same truck my dad used to drive and lost 20 percent of its power, still does. BLAME the egr.
