I have an in cab/air release fifth wheel. It works most of the time but sticks on occasion and I really prefer the manual pull. Manual is quicker and with a puller, not difficult at all. Does anybody on here know if an air release can be converted to a manual pull? I know they make conversion kits for manual to air but can't find anything about what I'm looking for. Any input would be appreciated.

My International has both, the only thing stopping it from being a man release is a pull arm, hell you could weld one to the release arm underneath if you wanted to get inventive.

Mine has a pull arm, it just doesn't open unless the button is depressed and it's a switch that goes back to it's original position once you remove your finger. It doesn't stay in the unlock position, but you've given me an idea about a workaround to try. Thanks.

If it has a pull arm it should work fine for ether just like mine, When mine needed rebuilt it was because it would "Jam" and not release, ended up having all kinds of junk built up under neath and the release bolt was rusted to hell and back. Rebuilt and regressed the underside fith wheel now both work fine.

I also have a push switch inside the the truck that would do the same as soon as you released your finger it would go back, I ended up using a small Flathead screwdriver to wedge the switch in the unlock position. This would allow the air release to push against the arm and give me extra push on the arm to make it so I could pull it. When I had to use both it was a good sign it was time to rebuild the sucker, Now it pulls slick as butter without the release switch.

    Some questions

    Whats the truck ?
    What year ?

It's a 2012 Volvo 780. The fifth wheel is Holland, but I don't know the model off hand. I think I can get it sorted now, with a little time and effort.
