I have 2002 cummins isx pre-egr. Does this have a crankcase filter? I read that they do, but cannot seem to find it on mine. Maybe they only put them on the egr motors?

driver side on front of engine a red square box.

That's what I thought. I saw pictures online but mine doesn't have that same looking box. So I wasn't sure if the early isx had something different.

No. The ISX, pre DPF, did not have a crankcase filter. Before the DPF versions, it vented to the ground as it had always done in the past. My 2006 ISX with EGR had no crankcase filter. It only became required for emission compliance with the 2007 DPF requirement.
Ezrider_48501 and PowerPullin Thank this. -
That's right, no filter. DPF engines only.
PowerPullin Thanks this. -

My '07 with no DPF owners manual said to change it, but it didn't have one.

Some 870 ISX do have a little filter on the left front that is for the turbo actuator, maybe this is what you are thinking of.
Check this out for the EGR only engine, http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...component-charts-post3514936.html#post3514936
This is out for a DPF engine, http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...sensors-location-post3514736.html#post3514736 -
Good point. The ISX did have a small filter of the turbo actuator, mounted down low on the block on the left.

The '07 I had did have the EGR, but it was built before the 1st of the calendar year of '07, so it did not have the DPF or the crankcase filter.
