It was explained to me like this from a DOT bear, you can drive a truck deaf, but you cant drive blind, so the light must work, the buzzer doesnt.

That does make sense, thanks for the reply.

totally not true
on both accounts.
a. I just quoted the relevant passage from FMCSA above, where you can have either.
b. You have to be able to hear to pass your DOT medical. (must be able to hear a whisper from x number of feet away) (I forget the exact number of feet) -
Either way, you post the regulation and it is clear enough for me. -
i have a 93' pete, that the buzzer is stuck in the on position. i pulled the dash and wiggled the wires a little trying to see if the wires were touching. i saw a little puff of smoke and the buzzer quit on me. so my question is does this model truck come with the light or did it only have the buzzer?

ok,i'm going to pick some bulbs up tomorrow and try to find the right slot.

On the back of the warning light assembly on the top of the dashboard, each lamp can be disabled by pulling a "button" (not quite like a fuse, just a contact plugged in the back) on each individual light.
Sorry if that's poorly explained; I'll try to get some photos to show what I'm talking about. -
i know exactly what your talking about,i'm sort of one those fix it yourselfers. i can't afford to pay PETERBILT $90/hr to change bulbs lol
