I've got a Super 10 in my '94 Peterbilt. Never drove a truck with one before this. I drove it down to a side road next to our farm and taught myself. No working tach either. There should be a pattern on the dash. Also Eaton Fuller has a video on UTube that shows what to do. Believe me, if I can learn it, anyone can...
i love the super 10

Its a easy trans. to drive. I usually dont even split the bottom 3 unless loaded heavy but you will be better spliting them all in the begining to learn. When down shifting say from 10 to 9th flip the button and rev it to 1500 and it will shift upshifting say from 9th to 10th flip the botton and let it drop to 1500 and it will shift when going from 2nd to 3rd for example u can flip before u move the stick or at the same time it doesent really matter I do it all in one motion. This is how mine works I like it, its easier to skip gears in then a straight 10 and alot of shifting is from 10th to 9th and u dont even have to move the stick. lazy mans trans.

when i first hopped in one i said what the hell? so i talk to an old timer whos assigned truck is a super 10 and he tells me whats up with it...he said he had the same problem with it
id say now its my favorite transmission, very easy to drive, a whole lot less work -
Thats what I heard about it to Freebird135 would like to try it myself.

The super 10 transmission does shift very smooth but given a choice I will stick with 13 speed transmission's.

The super 10 is a 13 speed, without the plunger ( bottom 4 gears)

had a guy come in here a couple years ago. truck had a normal 10 speed shift knob on it. i took it on a test drive and ground every gear in it. i came back to shop and told him that was the hardest shifting trans i ever drove. thats when he decided to tell me it was a super 10 and he didn't like the orginal shift knob so he changed it.
a super 10 only has 5 gear sets in the main box compared to 10,13,15 and 18 having 6 gear sets. the top cover on a super 10 is different then the rest of them.. -
Super 10's are definetly the lazy mans transmission, you shift 50% less then a regular 10 lol..Same gear pattern too..I like em...Very easy to learn on...

I haven't been in a Super10, but the front box always has the same amount of gears in any Fuller twin countershaft transmission as far as I know, with mostly just the gear ratios and case size being different..
The difference in the number of useable gears is decided in the auxillary section {back box}..
The difference in shift patterns depends on the gear order on the mainshaft and the top plate's shift fork design..
So how does a Super10 only have 5 gears in the front {main box} -
sorry, i was wrong the super 10 only has 4 gears sets in the main box
3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th all same gear set
4th, 5th, 9th, 10th all same gear set
four gears only use 2 gear sets..
its kinda confusing
