I've developed a little bit of a leak in the air-to-air on my International 9300. It's not too bad yet, but it's enough that my EGT climbs a little too fast. I'm hoping to use this as an excuse to upgrade to a better cooler. Anyone have any suggestions on what to get or who to get it from? I emailed and got a quote from Detroit Radiator of $750(minus 20% if I get it before the 31st). I'm just wondering if I'm going to wish later that I had upgraded while I was spending the money. The engine is a 3406E 475 that I'm planning on on getting flashed to 600 and putting the C16 turbo on pretty soon, and maybe eventually getting the marine cam and injectors and so forth from there, so I'd like to get something that will support that. I don't want to spend $2500 on it either though...Anyway, your advice is much appreciated.
Good place to buy an intercooler?

The radiator in my truck shot craps the other day, so after being insulted at my local dealer $$$$ I asked google, and found a company called Radiator Pros (dot com is the same name). Called them up, and ended up talking to a fairly knowledgeable guy. He beat everybody else's price, and promised his product was OEM. He didnt rush me off the phone, was able to answer all my questions, and in general seemed like a stand up kinda guy.
These guys also sell CAC's so you might hit them up, and pick his brain for a bit. I know you're asking for help more in the upgrade dept, as opposed to where to buy. But, since I had a good experience there I figured it worth a mention.josh.c and Mr. Cowboy Thank this. -

I have ordered 2 radiators and 1 air-to-air from Detroit Radiator, I would call them back every time, had time to actually talk to ya about the different options rather than just saying 'oh this is the factory part, put it on.' Pricing was reasonable

Thanks guys, I'll be contacting all of these places. Detroit radiator's website makes it look like their coolers are sturdier than the oem ones, and I'm a sucker for a good sales pitch!

Seems like Duralite also has a dedicated following regarding CAC's. But their prices leave a lot to be desired. Design seems good and they have a good warranty. You might give them a call, but from what I have seen, be prepared for sticker shock.

I ended up ordering the cooler from Detroit Radiator. I like being able to buy something from someone who knows what they're talking about, and they also had the best price with shipping. Cowpie, I called Duralite, and it turns out my local International dealer is one of the Duralite dealers in Knoxville, and they didn't even know it! So I had to get the OEM# from them, call Duralite back, and get their part# so I could call KW (the other dealer in town). I did call KW, but they said it was going to be in the morning before they could get me a price. I'd had my fill and called Detroit Radiator back and ordered. Anyway, thanks guys.

Sounds like you made the right choice, Josh. I wouldn't want to buy from a distributor that didn't even know that they were one and didn't even know the price! No matter the brand, I am not sure buying from a dealer or engine shop is a good idea anyway. They will mark up the price to get their cut. Best to buy direct like you did to get the best price.

DONT BUY A DURALITE! they are offshore China junk! The best type of CAC to get is one with a whats called bar and plate design core. Theres a place half hour from me and all this guy does is rebuild CACs. He orders the bar and plate design core from europe somewhere. a regular rebuilt CAC will cost about $700-$1000 bar and plate should run about $1300-$1500 and they are way better and fail much less unlike the regular... i think there called plate and fin.
