What's your real world MPG? I know it all varies; here is what I'm looking at. Engine spec, trans and tractor type, trailer type and weight, Terrain (flat, h/w, mountains..etc)
Please post up when you get a chance...
I'm trying to get a feel for things to come...

i think with a columbia with detroit series 60 (forgot hp rating will check tomorrow) FR series roadranger and 3.73 rear diff gear 6.7 mpg. If i slow down to 55, then about 7.4-7.5.
i was only hauling about 20,000lbs in the box though. -
Average weight- 73-75k - average roughly about 6.1 and stay around 64-66 mph.
This trip I had only 7k in the box and averaged 7.52 that felt good lol! -
2006 International 9400, Cummins ISX, 13 spd, 3.42 rears, low pro 22.5 rubber, dry box freight avg 35,000 lb loads, all operation N of I40 E of I25and W of I81. Avg year round mpg of 7.3. Avg summer mpg 7.6. Usually run around 62mph with occasional step up to 65 mph. ECM typically shows in the 8's for mpg, but it is usually off a 1/2 or more compared to pump to pump calculations.
Fun thing is, the carrier I have the truck on with uses the ECM mpg average to do the IFTA calculations. States are getting a little short changed. Breaks my heart. -
2000 KW W900L, 550 Cat, 18 spd, 3.36 rears. I pull a flat and run from the Rocky Mountains to the midwest and back. I average about 40k on the deck. Yearly average is 6.52.

I averaged 8.59 mpg range on my dedicated runs during July. My dedicated runs are with 48' special made dry vans that I gross around 79K for 1/2 the trip and around 55K on the return on the around 1060 mile roundtrip. I use the same fuel stops and routes most of the time.
Picking up my truck from shop today with both rear ends replaced with brand new ones that have been MicroBlue micro-polished and coated gears, shafts and bearings that I hope to make it into the 9 to 10 mpg range.
I am considering switching to Michelin Super Singles on the drives in September or October to hopefully gain 3/10ths to 1/2 mpg more.
Looks like we are headed towards $5 per gallon fuel by this time next year thanks to our President and good fuel mileage will make an even bigger difference to the bottom line. -
Go there and sign up with your truck to start seeing a huge database to compare with. Yes it is Kevin Rutherford's website.
Note: Don't use Internet Explorer with it because it does not support it. I use Google Chrome that works great.
I have been using it since January and it helps me to challenge myself for better mpgs. My Truck on there is "Dice.s Truck" if you want to follow along. I have several friend's trucks I follow and compete with on the mpgs.Last edited: Aug 1, 2011

2000 W900L N-14 Cummins custom tuned to 600, 13 speed, 3.70 rears, low pro 24.5's, pulling flatbeds w/75,000-80,000 gross, running the speed limit or thereabouts wherever I am...
Yearly average 6.8, I have seen as much as 8.5 under perfect conditions and can achieve 7.5 fairly easily most of the time but I'm very happy with 6.8 on average. -
2004 Freightliner Columbia.
430hp Detroit EGR engine
Lightning Top 2 transmission
3.55 rear end
Lo pro 22.5
I'm usually pulling between 19K and 43K between Ft. Worth and Albuquerque. Between moderate idle time, the headwinds I always seem to get, the hills in NM and doing 68 mph (my choice, no governor. I did run 75 in NM but cut back to help save fuel) I'm averaging 6.4 mpg. -
my old truck was a '00 9400 with an N14@480,13spd,3.55's,11R22.5 tires. I pull a bullrack and am usually grossing between 79-85K running in the flatlands of northern Iowa and southern MN. When the truck was newer I would avg around 6mpg over the year. In the winter mileage would drop to just under 6 but in the summer I could get 6.5 easy and if I had a light load and really watched my speed I could push 7mpg. most of my driving is a mix of rural/interstate roads.
I haven't had my new truck long enough to get any real data yet but I suspect it won't do as well, since the lifetime avg on the Cat ID is only 4.7mpg. The truck has alot of idle hours from the previous owner so I think I can improve that since I don't idle the truck much.
