So I work for the Big Blue Screw. They are taking out my broken ClimaCab and making it idle only over 75 or under 25. They are putting in a sensor to detect the exterior temperature. I am of the mind if I put a match to it, or a hair dryer, or lighter and make it think its 200 degrees when I want to idle the truck it should idle. So my question is where is the temperature sensor for the no idle override? The truck is a 2010 Peterbilt 387.....

what engine? really to disable idle shut down auxially input of ECM may be used so the easy way is to disable idle shut down in your ECM! if it is Cummins - anyone who can disable password can help you, if Paccar MX - not so easy, DAF DAVIE required.... rare toy in USA

Well yeah I have a Cummings, but I am sure Werner has this thing Password protected no? I am not sure I want to mess with it on that level. How would I reprogram it? But if I can find the thermostat and put a lighter to it so the truck thinks its >75 I can make the truck idle, no?

I figured it out. I talked to the mechanic installing the new sensor. The Ambient temperature sensor is located just passed the 5th wheel, on the driver's side and is zip tied to the wireing harness against the frame. The sensor itself has a copper terminal end. So my plan is to heat up the copper piece with a lighter or match, and maybe put something permanent there with a switch that will keep the area >75 degrees. As long as the truck thinks it is >75 degrees it will idle. Easy, Breezy, Beautiful, Covergirl!

A lighter would only last for a minute or two... think Hot Hands.. Good Luck.. I wouldn't mess with it myself.. If it records the temps you could find yourself with a problem.. weather shows the high was 70 and your records show it was 130 ;)

a lighter would be like 200 lmao..

put a heat patch on it one of those walgreens, cvs brands the thick ones not the skinny mentholated ones.

3 pack costs $3 last for 12hours. if its to hot open it let it sit for a while and then wrap it around sensor bingo. or put a sock around it and then put patch as soon as you open it.
