| On my autoshift I have learned this, hold the brake firmly when shifting into reverse or drive. To cure your upshifting problem let off the throttle a little and it will shift. As for the downshifting, I have always had to shift it down when going down a hill, otherwise just hold onto the brake. Its to save fuel or something like that. If that number thing starts flashing put it back into neutral, then try again. Now the other thing with the truck not starting, heres the deal, after you're done driving let it idle for 2-3 minutes then shut off the engine, you will hear the tranny shift thru all the gears and it will be ready to start again. |

yup i do that at the Fuel pumps but like i said sometimes it gets stuck n a gear and then i cant start the truck again until neutral stops flashing and beeping (getting a dashed line in the display)

| Hmm sounds odd, as for the off ramp, they recommend putting the tranny in L for maximum engine braking. Try this, flip the key on and off 5 times, and see if any numbers pop up, if they do there is some kind of error. |

| so here i am on Friday 6/29/07 i just left Salem VA, headed to wintersville Ohio... I'm taking I-77 and before i make it to the 1st tunnel i'm having transmission problems its not shifting into the lower gear until the RPM's reach 10 and its time to down shift again.... so i end up climbing 2 of the hills at 25 mph, as i get to the Tunnel at the state line i drop the truck (this is all in manual) to 9th engine keeps revving each rev it slightly pulls the truck and slows it down then its too slow for 9th try 8th same thing go to 7th same thing it takes 6th gear i was doing 20mph through the state line tunnel.... as i go down hill it starts shifting correctly the next grade i take it screws up again This time worse... I down shift to 9th keeps revving truck slowing, gear doesn't take and too slow for 9th so i down shift to 8th, then a bad sound a Loud metal Sound from the Transmission RPM's still at 14, truck doesn't take gear as i press on Gas a Grinding sound starts coming from transmission then the RPM's stop Reacting to Gas peddle and drop to 7 with the gas peddle to the floor, then the push button box for transmission starts beeping (service light isn't flashing) i coasted to the top of the hill with 42,000lbs of bleach and pull off onto the shoulder at MM4, put truck into neutral keeps beeping try reverse, nothing then try drive in 2nd and 1st nothing, i try pushing break peddle to the floor nothing i ended up getting towed to Princeton WV Exit 9 truck is in Volvo Friday, they closed for the weekend been here at the sleep inn since friday night... called volvo and they wont be pulling the truck into the shop until tomorrow.... this totally sucks,

| GRRRR... i just got a call from the Dealership there isn't anything wrong with my truck they tell me all of the codes are inactive.. Well Duhhh its been shut off since Friday the computer probably cleared them.... so they take it bobtail and drive it around and he told me it shifts fine but they are going to hook to my load and drive around with it.... if they don't fix something on that truck and give it back to me and say nothing is wrong i don't care about it being a volvo I'm getting rid of it and back into a Freightliner
