    fuel gauge

Fuel gauge on a 97 FLD120 bounces all over the place, I have cleaned the ground on fuel level sender. Any other suggestions to fix before I sink a lot of $ for guessing?

its the sending unit in the tank. its a long arm that pivots in the middle and that pivot point wears out causing the eradic reading

ya, it's the pivot point. it gets loose. take it out and look at it, you'll see what I mean. it floats on one end so when the pivot goes out it flos not only up n down but side to side. so you don't need to be moving.

take it out, if it's not all floppy then look somewhere else. $90 each for my peterbilt. others will probably be cheaper because you dont have the glory of buying them from a pete dealer

My gauge is off by quite a bit. I've got two 110 gal tanks and the most I've ever put on is about 180 gallons. I only get that much on after running on E for a hundred miles or so. Typically I'm putting between 160 and 170 gallons on. How might I fix this little problem?
