I have worked on fuel mileage for my 3406E Cat 6TS in my 1998 Volvo 770 since January 2011. Here is rough fuel mileage gains from mechanical changes to my truck since then.

PP Exhaust Manifold and larger B/W turbo = +6/10ths mpg
Fleet Air filter (aero truck single filter) = +3/10ths mpg
MicroBlue Wheel Bearings (tractor 3 axle only) = +4/10ths mpg
    MicroBlue Rear Ends (x2) = +8/10ths mpg
    MicroBlue Tranny (13 spd) = +1/2 mpg

I do run a dedicated run several times a month to accurately measure these adds, so all numbers are rough averages over the past year with all my fuel mileage numbers with detailed notes posted on www.mygauges.com as "Dice.s Truck" and "Dice.struck2012".

My 1st quarter IFTA was 9.16 mpg this year that is up from January 2011's 6.33 mpg avg.

I also have added to my truck before January 2011, a PP Box, PP Balancer/Dampner, FASS, Walker Megaflow Mufflers, solar panels and use Mobil One Sunthetic in everything. I also added to my truck last year Michelin X-One Energy SS tires, TST tire sensors, Airtabs (tractor only) and Real Wheels wheel covers that gained very minor mpg too small to measure but helped in other ways.

I have also tried several products that did not work on my truck including the Turbo3000d Vada, a Hydrogen Generator, several fuel/oil additives and I just finished testing the EcoTaz Eco-5 with no gains noticed from any of these. I do use Wal-mart 2 cycle oil for lubricity in my fuel at currently around 200:1 ratio.

    Good luck!

Note: You might want to plan on replacing stock OEM CAC when you change to larger non-wastegated turbo because the stock one will blow out (at least the one on my Volvo did). I went to the Vista-Pro Automotive one that is a Duralite copy made in the USA and is cheaper with an equal if not better warranty.

Sir, before I would do all of those B.S. add-ons(because I have already tried 99% of them) find your engines peak horse power and then find the operating rpm ranges. This will tell you where to run the truck for your best fuel mileage. Now please exclude bully dog because I am installing it in my ECM as soon as I can afford it. But the rest of those halfass add-ons FORGET IT. I have a 1995 379 peterbilt and my trailer is a 48ft. reefer on 24.5 tall rubber and on my ifta statements I have been averaging 6.0 to 6.5 depending on the period and my FOOT!

I run a t660 with all the skirt but the roof one c15 acert stage1 pdi. I feel like an idiot if I come up with less than 6 mpg pulling a step. I have been told by pdi and the mechanic that does our work to try and keep it as close to 1400rpm as possible and have found that seems to be where it's at for my best mpg. I see nothing wrong with splitting down on a hill and tachin an easy 1500 versus going full power at 13 or 1350 lugging less than 13 is mostly just building up heat in your engine. My fuel resistor did nothing for anything on this truck compared to previous trucks I used it on.

What is it with everyone and the IFTA report crap? Do they realize how easy it is to manipulate it???

Les, this is the Internet! Facts can, and are made up on the fly. Please keep common sense out of any fuel mileage discussion. Thanks!

Come on by my IFTA reporting company to see oringinal and even during Ecotaz testing I posted pictures of fuel pump readings on over a months worth of fill ups.

If you don't believe me don't buy it, just stop the false accusations unless you can prove it because I have went beyond any other poster in here proving fuel mileage results. I don't need to make it up with so much proof.

    Oh yeah sorry I forgot.

You misunderstood my point. My statement was not aimed at you, it was aimed at the suckers willing to believe everyones IFTA statement.

Besides stopping by would prove nothing other than you or someone knows how to do your IFTA. You have been in this business long enough to know how to manipulate your IFTA numbers if you wanted to.

For those who don't..... Its easy! Just pay cash and pocket the receipt.... tada you now went from 5mpg to 6mpg.....

So now whos willing to bet I can get my next quarter up to 8mpg in my mechanical Cat....LOL

I don't get what you would really be gaining because now you spent money on fuel that you can't show to wright off to get a better average?? I would bet what ever you spent is going to be a lot more than you would save on IFTA. Every year I get a refund, not because of getting great MPG's ( I wish I could get 9 mpg's, heck I'm happy when I hit 6) but because of where I buy my fuel. compaired to where I run.
