Man, what a lazy weekend. We need to get some miles on. We got to the Colton Terminal about midnight Saturday night. Had a good nights sleep, woke up and took showers and did laundry ( and I had my Lucky Charms :) ) We then took the company van to go shopping. Bought some great drawer units for the cabinets as I was very tired of digging for stuff. Then we went grocery shopping, came back to the terminal and Anne completely reorganized the truck. I love how it is set up now. Two of my best friends from high school (married to each other) live nearby and they came over and we all went out for Thai food. Very tasty. We got up this morning and ran to Walnut and made our 7:00 delivery. Then we got a load assignment for Fedex in Everett Washington that picks up at 3:00 AM. So went back to the terminal, got the truck washed and got the landing gear fixed on the trailer. My sister, who lives in LA is coming over so we can go to dinner. We will then head to my home (Everett). I grew up 20 miles away and most of my family is still there.

Just wanted to thank you all for this thread. I'm enjoying reading about your adventures.

I start CDL-school on monday and am hoping to work for USX once I am done. My ambition is to zig-zag the country :biggrin_25519: . Does USX do any trips to AK from the lower 48? Or any trips into Canada?

Good luck at school. I heard USX had a number of loads to Alaska last summer and we definitely run to Canada. Make sure you have a passport if you are interested.

Thank you very much. I do have my passport already :)

How good is the company at giving you a route out in an area you want to be driving in?

Well, we made Everett no problem and dropped the load and then had breakfast with my brother and my parents. I love it when family and friend time works out. We are now on a load to Columbus Ohio. 2400 miles :biggrin_25525:
We are taking home time late next week and taking the kids to Crested Butte Colorado for four days. Really looking forward to it very much.

We are in Billings this evening and Anne is in taking a shower while I walked the dog and caught up on some email. I am going to clean up and then we will get going across North Dakota. GPS on the DriverTech died so it is kind of a pain inputting every stop but still better than paper logs.

PS, got the first installment of our Hazmat Bonus on this weeks pay. Pretty sweet. That $5,000 Hazmat signing bonus is getting put to VERY good use.

They send you where they want you to go. You don't have any input. But you can refuse to take loads to Canada or NY City

    marquardt72 and BBradUMA Thank this.

May I inquire as to why one has the ability to refuse those two locations?

Because of all the time it takes to deliver and the difficulty, i think. It was that way when i started in 2008.

    BBradUMA Thanks this.
